Bet on live cricket online: South Africa v Australia, T20 Series

The Proteas will have to quickly move on from their disappointing, recently concluded, incoming England tour and gear up to face a resurgent Aussie team who are here for a limited-overs series. The hosts lost the test series 3-1, followed by a 1-1 draw in the one-day internationals and finally a bitterly disappointing 2-1 loss in the T20I series. Interestingly South Africa started with a victory in the opening match of each format but couldn’t find a way to capitalise on the momentum.

Since then, the home nation have been rocked by the resignation of Faf du Plessis as captain of the test and T20 teams. "The last few weeks of rest away from the game have given me a lot of perspective on the great privilege and honour I have had in representing and leading my country in the three formats of this wonderful game. It has been a rewarding, sometimes tough and other times a lonely road, but I would not replace the experience for anything, because it has made me the man that I am proud to be today," Du Plessis said via a press statement.

The 35-year old batsman had stepped down from the one-day international captaincy role to make way for Quinton de Kock at the conclusion of the test series in January. De Kock will now be the skipper across all three formats.

Meanwhile the Australians arrive on our shores having last played limited-overs cricket in January. On that occasion they travelled to India for a limited tour consisting of just 3 ODIs. The tourists lost  2-1, having won the first match in Mumbai.

Live and in-Play

As always all matches of the entire series will be available Live & in-Play with the widest range of markets available at Sunbet.co.za.

Going into the first T20 match on Friday, 21 February, the Australians are surprisingly the favourites at 11/20 with South Africa underdogs at 29/20 – making the patriotic bet very worthwhile in the opening match.

During the T20 series against England Temba Bavuma averaged 41, while skipper and fellow opener Quinton de Kock averaged 43.6 making the Over option in the ‘Player’s Total Runs’ market a wise bet.

We also boast a unique fantasy-type market called ‘Player Performance’, where players get allocated points for their on-field performance: Total Points:

  • Run = 1 point
  • Catch = 10 points
  • Wicket = 20 points
  • Stumping = 25 points

A select number of players are given a quote which punters can choose to bet Over or Under the total points quote:

This exciting market allows punters to bet on a player’s overall performance beyond just their core discipline – batting or bowling. With players who are likely to bat and bowl doubling their chances of gaining points. However with 10 points allocated for a catch, knowing which players field in the ‘hot zones’ could be very beneficial in deciding which way to lean – Over or Under. You can’t discount the whopping 25 points on offer for a stumping! If there are spinners playing then there’s a chance of a stumping which would gain a wicket-keeper 25 points alone!

Whatever your preferred market is, Sunbet has widest array with competitive odds and a Live in-Play offering that is unrivalled!
