Six Nations Rugby 2022 - Final Round Preview

By Greg Stewart

The final Round of a thrilling Six Nations Championship is ahead of us this Saturday, with all three matches being played on the same day, starting with the wooden spoon clash of Wales and Italy.

While Italy did show some improvement last weekend against Scotland, they have lost every match, and only scored a total of 38 points in 4 games so far and its unlikely that they will surprise anyone this weekend. Having said that Wales have only, a single win from 4 games, and have scored a miserly 55 points in total. Definitely the wooden spoon championship game, with my bet going with Wales to finally spark in their last game of the Championship at home. Wales are at 1.01:1 to win on SunBet, and if you are looking for an interesting bet to take on this game, why not take Italy to be the first to score with a penalty goal at 5.30:1 on Sunbet, and Wales to score the first try at 1.95:1 on Sunbet.

Ireland, with only a single and narrow loss against France so far, host unpredictable Scotland in a match that should be Ireland’s to take on paper. But Scotland have a knack of winning the games no-one thinks they will, as they did in round 1 when they beat England, and then losing the soft matches as with Wales in Round 2. Their unpredictability is what the Irish will have to contend with.

The points however always tell the story, and with Ireland’s 20 tries to Scotland’s 10 so far, it is almost inconceivable that the Scots will prevail. Scotland will however be pushing to at least score a bonus point as a single point could be the decider between them and Englandfinishing in the 3rd place spot in the Championship. For an interesting bet why not take Scotland to score the first winning play with a try – it is at 5.80:1 on SunBet.

I would back Ireland for a home win, at 1.11:1 on Sunbet, and add a margin winning bet of Ireland by 1-12 points at 3:1 on SunBet. Ireland have to win this match to have any chance of stealing the Six Nations from France, and will be hoping that Le Bleu’s, somehow manage to lose to England to hand them the Championship.

In the Final game of the 2022 Six Nations, France have a “must win” situation if they are to secure the title. They will have the advantage of running onto the field knowing what the outcome of the Ireland/ Scotland game is, but won’t want anything other than another Grand Slam finish in the history books. The last Grand Slam title France won was 12 years ago. Anything other than a win will leave them in a precarious positon and will come down to bonus points to be the decider. Ireland are only 3 points behind and should they beat Scotland with a bonus point, France will need a win to secure their Grand Slam Title. Eddie Jones has made five changes to the Roses match line up in an attempt to change England’s shambolic run of form. France have only made a single change, recalling the talented Damian Pernaudto the wing for injured Yorham Moefana.

Betting tip for the match is France to win by 1-12 points at 2.40:1 and add France to win both halves at 2.12:1 on SunBet. Also consider France to score first and win at 1.89:1 and the first half to be the highest scoring half at 1.91:1on SunBet.
